Anybody use Shimano SH-TR01 Shoes

I’m thinking of getting some and wanted to know if they where any good.I wonder if they work with speedplay pedals, I guess I could ask that when I order them.

Any feed back would be most welcome!

Thanks

Becky

I recently purchased a pair and have Speedplays on them. Haven’t ridden them much, but they are far more comfortable than my old shoes (probably more due to how old they were) and with the one strap should make my transitions a little less ‘deliberate’.

I have the Shimano SH-TR01 and speedplay Zero combo. The speedplays fit just fine. The carbon sole is really stiff. I’ve put about 500-1000 miles on mine. I use them for both training and racing. They are super easy to slip into while on the bike and very comfortable. I recommend trying them on before you order them. One thing that some might not like about them is that to sole curls up slightly from the ball of the foot to the toes. I had to get used to that. Now, I don’t even notice it anymore. And IMO, the strap is unecessarily long, or maybe I have a really thin foot. Before I had the strap shortened by a local cobler, the strap used to flick the crank. It got annoying sometimes. Check out the picture on page 84 of the latest (October 2003) issue of Triathlete magazine and you’ll see three riders with them on. You’ll see what I mean about the strap “flicking” the crank. It’s definitely a good shoe. I’m happy with them.

I like mine alot. Very comfy. I took an exacto knife and cut back part of the strap to prevent the strap from rubbing the crank.

I like mine a lot. I initially bought them just for racing, but they’ve become my favorite shoe. Like the others posted, the strap was too long. I had ~1.5" cut out of the middle of the strap.

I have the same problem with my strap. How/where did you get yours shortened?

Thanks

My girlfriend did it for me. She took the stitching out where the vinyl part of the strap was attached to the velcro part. Cut a piece out of the velcro part, and reattached with a sewing machine. I think it took her all of 5 minutes.

Thanks for the advice and I just put a pair on order.

I just just got my shoes and new speedplay pedals. Now I have a new question.Did you have trouble with snapping into the new speedplays at first? It took me five min. the first time! After some practice I seem to have my right foot figuared out but I still have trouble with the left foot. Also I wanted to say thanks for all your advice.

Thanks Becky

PS My pretty new shoe’s are already all scatched up :o(

As noted in the Speedplay Zero instructions, the spring can be a bit tight at first. Also, in the instructions, they mention being careful not to tighten the cleat screws more than 25in/lbs. I ended up putting a little bit of dry lube to help and after a few click ins, they loosened up a bit.

Good Luck!!

I replaced my Sidi T1’s with the Shimano and am very pleased, super stiff and comfortable as well.

Just bought some and am hanging for the weekend to try them out!! From all reports, they sound great - stiff, light and super comfy.

Will let you know how they go - fingers crossed I don’t have to take a knife to the strap…

It must be a guy thing because I had no problems with my straps.:o)
