I was reading about it and wondered if anyone had tried it. If so, what were your thoughts, if no, why would or wouldn’t you do it?

It looks … ummm “cute” in a way only a 20 something from the ipod generation could appreciate. It OK for someone looking ot finish a race, not race a race.
I like numbers, metrics, precision, clearly defined goals, targets, etc. Plans that can objectively measure you progress, definine your overall fitness, etc.
However, I enjoy running because I’m good at it.
I don’t need a board game, music, or special points system to motivate me.
My performances in training and racing are enough motivation.
I get a thrill if I cruise a 10 mile run with a average pace 0:10/mile faster at the same average heart rate. OR I finish that run with less fatigue or percieved effort at that pace than before. I strive for those moments where I’m firing on all cylinders, everything is clicking and I’m in the zone.
I’m not saying it’s a bad concept. Use whatever motivates you best to run. This just seem more like something for beginners to get them started. I don;t see it as a ueful tool for sustained performance improvements year after year. At some point you have to get past duration, any pay attention to precise pacing and HR metrics.
