I re-posted this from the other page. I was going to see it tonight but I got to watching “Clear and Present Danger” on the History Channel and then watched a documentary on there about Pablo Escobar. Interesting.
Unfortunately, San Diego is not one of the “select cities” in which it opened this weekend. I have to wait until 12/31 (I think). I’m not a Leo fan, but I’ll be taking in this flick asap.
I’m not a Leonardo fan too much either, and some of the special effects look too “digital” based on the previews I’ve seen, but I’m there anyway.
The aviator , was a bit disappointing,
-
All of a sudden ,after a short scene with his mom giving him a bath, telling him germs are bad and spelling quarantine, "He is 17 - 20yrs old with money. They showed little of his dad’s machine tool company / oil drill bits he leased to MAKE A LOT of that money.
-
There is maybe 15 minutes of flying, in the whole film. Mostly junk biplane footage.
-
The majority of the film is, scenes of him at" movie openings with stars and night club discussions, with press agents, accountants, movies moguls". Him drinking milk out of old quart glass bottles
-
Great close ups ,of made up women, The actress playing, Katherine Hepburn was the star of the film ,great job.
-
They had the spruce goose up flying to about 60 feet in the air and showed guys grinding (sparks) on the spruce goose while under construction, that’s where I mumbled bullshit.
-
If you like old cars , Movies stars from the 30 - 60s, glitzy fashion of that period, you will love it.
-
If you like aircraft is was a bit lacking , It down played his flying skills, focused on TWA and buy outs, bribes, senators, hearings
-
They show him going down hill , pissing in milk bottles. And just sort of ends . Nothing about his death or getting hauled around in a lear jet up from mexico.
-
As far a cussing ,there are about 100 GODDAMITS and one “f@@k” used in the film , only 3 or 4 minutes of lusty groping " they should have porned it up a bit "
-
No russian sub , No hughes 500 helicopters , No CIA , glowmar . ZIP NADA , NIX ,
-
I think the main historical thread of the film would be, the women he knew ,related to what he was doing at the time.
-
Wait till it hits the DVD rental.
