I will have to pick up a charity slot pretty soon if i decide to go but I’m just concerned about there plans of turning the race into a Du if they determine the water unswimable due to the oil spill. There really isn’t a refund, at best an entry into next years race only if the race is completely cancelled. Anyone around that area that can give me some info to help with my decision? What’s the Bay like as of the last couple of days? What is the possibility of them canceling the swim or race all together. Info info will help. Thanks
im doing it. not really worried about the oil being there then. it will be a duathlon if there is oil though.
I was down there last weekend and at that time people were very concerned about the oil. I’d plan to pay for the Du and if a tri happens, its a bonus.
It’s my local club race. I’ll be there, as always. It’s a good race as far as sprints go. As for the oil, they told us it was going to be here weeks ago. It’s still a long way away from us and the race is just 10 days away. The fresh water is pouring out of Mobile Bay which has got to help keep the oil away. As long as we don’t get a lot of southwest wind in the next 10 day, I think we’re going to have swim. Send me a PM if you have any questions. See you there.
