What is a rec Shuffle?
Recommend Shuffle to Computer music transfer program.
sorry
do you mean an IPOD shuffle?
If so on a PC its recognized as an external drive, so its easy, not sure about the mac…
Yeah if it is an Apple, use iTunes, it’s free and fantastic.
with the ipod shuffle (and i’m new to this) you can only sync it with one computer. so, if i sync it with my home computer and add songs then take it to work i can not use it with itunes at work unless i erase all the songs and re-sync and start over. so, if i have different songs on each i can’t simply upload from itunes at home and then load them into itunes at work and then load a combined/new set onto the shuffle.
they advertise programs that will allow you to download from your shuffle to your computer and add to itunes but you have to buy that separately. i’m not sure i want to do that since i’ll only need to do this once. or if i do buy one i’d like to get a recommendation for a good one.
thanks for the help
google senuti…it’s itunes spelled backwards and it’s free for 30 days. Used ipodrip in the past too.

If you use a PC, and you “plug in” your shuffle, you should be able to find it in windows explorer (or My Computer) as an external drive.
With iTunes in the background, open My Computer, you should see your shuffle. If you don’t, you need to go to iTunes click on the ipod in the tree on the left, choose Settings (in the middle of the screen), and make sure that enable disk usage is checked.
Once that is done, when you plugin your ipod you will see it in the explorer tree. From there, navigate to iPod_Control-Music-FXX. Within each FXX folder you will see files like ASJP.m4a. You can drag these to any folder on your computer and then from there you can drag into itunes. After you do that I choose “consolidate library” and it will move the files into the iTunes on your other PC. you can then delete the files from the intermediate folder.
Notes :
you can also use the shuffle like a USB or thumb drive to transfer any type of file (word, ppt, etc).
You also need to ensure that your windows is setup to view hidden files (On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options-Click the View tab-Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders)I dont think that this works on macs due to copy protection reasons.
Corinwright, i do have PC. i’ll give this a try. thanks

Holy crap! Now I know why I don’t use iPods and iTunes.
I’ll stick to my Sansa Clip. Plug it in to USB, drag over some music, done.
Its easy to get music onto the ipod. But they are trying to prevent people from copying other’s music and loading it onto their iTunes… so it really only likes to go one way. I’m sure that Apple is under more scrutiny than Sansa, WRT copyright protection and rights…
