Took the REI GPS class and got introduced to this next obsession. I had no clue it was so big, and so universal. I’ve been stumbling around in weird places a lot lately. Makes your long run/bike interesting. Turned a 4 miler in to a 2 hour epic the other day.
Yeah, we have been at it since 2001 and its a great way to explore new places. Username is the same over there.

Yep, we’ve been at it for a few years. We’re not obsessed with it but we take our Garmin on all of our camping trips and road trips as a side diversion for the kids. They really like doing it. It’s a good excuse to expplore the woods. We haent done it in a few months as summertime in Houston is no time to geocache. Same username over there as here. as well.
Heading to the beach today to walk the dog. Put three geocaches in the unit. It’s a little addicting.
I participated in a retreat for teachers a little while ago up in Yosemite that had a geocaching ‘competition’ as one of the main activities. It was a blast, and really motivated some of the first-time visitors to get out and see a lot more of the park than they otherwise would have, and at the same time gave the more initiated people a new challenge. I did some hikes in ways I’d never thought of before (like take the four mile trail out of the valley up to glacier point and panorama over to the top of the falls) and at the same time it was a really neat team-building activity.
