Any updates on the injured Colorado Triathletes?

Anyone have any updates on the status of the two injured CO triathletes Richard Paradis and Julie Purrington? I saw the story just yesterday on the e-mail newsletter. I remember Richard showing up to a winter duathlon with about 5" of snow on the road with his tri bike with full aero wheels. I believe he won too!

I believe Richard was moved to a lower care unit, has awoken? and is responding to people, and Julie is going to recover fully, just not sure how long. I believe there is an OWS benefit coming up this weekend, or next week sometime.

I called and talked to Julia at the hospital. She is lucky to be alive. If a doc had not been in the car behind her, she might have bled to death.
She is not able to walk at all now. Has had one surgery and will need more. Sounded like 6 weeks in the hospital with PT, and then she will figure out the next step.
She had a great perspective that even though it was not clear how long and what level of recovery she would have, this was another challenge to beat.

Richard sounds like he is in much worse shape. Not clear if he is totally out of the drug induced coma yet. Sounded like he might have some very very bad injuries.

Here is a great link with status updates.

Richard was moved to a “step-down” unit out of ICU. Sounds like he is making good progress as well.

Thanks for all the updates. They will be well taken care of at the ICU unit at Swedish Medical Center. Unfortunately that’s where my wife was this past December before her leukemia diagnosis. She doing very well now!!
