I’ve been running in some compression tights this winter mostly because my local running store had them on sale with a price comparable to regular tights. This particular model has compression in the lower back. I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised to see that they really helped in that area. Are there any tri suits that have compression built into them for the low back or is this not really doable yet? I’m wondering if the compression material would be detrimental in the water or maybe just too hot to use in a tri suit during the summer race season.
Just how high do your tights go?
Belly button.
I think DeSoto uses compression in some of their suits…
I generally notice it in the thighs of all my tri suits. But I excessively muscled thighs (read: extra weight to drag around) and I think it would be pretty difficult to make the upper really compress a lot just because of the wide range of people a suit is made to fit.

Desoto’s use compression fabric for the shorts part (used to power lycra, now they have their own compressor fabric for '09). The trisuit probably won’t come up high enough with the compression fabric, but the regular Desoto shorts might; they have a fairly high waist (they also make a lo-cut version).
