shot average rounds of 68 this morning, currently working on the swing so score was somewhat high, my drive is somewhat short at this time, Tempo is good yet ball striking and the mental relaxation is what I am working on.
About 82, but I don’t push off of the wall too hard, I think that is cheating if you are practicing for open water swimming. If I do then I will be around 76.
I believe that these numbers are more for personal evaluation. It would be ridiculous to think that I could take as few of strokes as someone that is 6’4" when I’m 5’4". My arms are 6 to 8 inches shorter. I used a calculator for how many strokes I should take from a web site a while ago, I don’t remember the link, but I was ball park for a stroke count of 36 to 38 per 50yds. I have tried to get that count down too but it feels like I’m gliding too much. I think Jill posted the link several months ago. I’ve been working on mantaining the count while dropping my times. Last September I was at 90 and have dropped 8 since then.
The bottom line to me is how fast can you swim in open water and feel strong at the end.
By the way, I got me a bright pink towel for the gym so nobody will mistake it for theirs. I think I will mark it with Kiki or something like that.

(I’m desperately trying to be the man my dog thinks I am.)
If I cheated at swim-golf like I do at regular golf, I’d include dive-ins, flip-turns, dolphin-kicks, etc … and then subtract 15 seconds off my 50y time … for no other reason than “just because”.
I’m the guy you see on the course that picks up his drive and throws it another 100 yards … and I’m not embarrassed about it.
I am not ashamed at my inclusion of the 15 yard streamline dolfin kick when I got my golf score of 38 (that’s 10 strokes and a 28" 50yards, well, actually a total of 20 yards of swimming). As for real golf, I am not ashamed about throwing my ball up onto the green from 70-80 yards out, I just make sure that no one sees me, and I make a noise with my club that sounds like a swing. I play swimming golf to warm down when I am very fatigued from a hard workout. I find it helps me hold the stroke together and smooth things up. Realistically, I can hold 32’s with 30 strokes (14 down 16 coming back) without much problem for 10 x 50’s on :45. For my height, I think that is okay. (5’8") If I try to go for less, my stroke gets all wonky.
