I’m going to be in WV for a whitewater rafting trip in a couple weeks (cue banjo music) and my brother and I are heading up a day early, hoping to get a day of riding in. Does anyone know the area? If so, any good road riding routes? We’d like to get some climbing in and based on the topography, that seems like a pretty easy task. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Spend a fair amount of time in southern WV for work. The terrain looks like it would be cycling heaven. However, most of the roads I have seen are in rough shape and there is almost no shoulder on them. Combined with lots and lots of Coal trucks, pickups and the like, I think that you need to be very careful on your choice of routes. Also, southern WV gets pretty scary pretty quick and cell service is spotty at best. Good luck.
