Any Sergio updates from the people at the race?

PLEASE KEEP US POSTEDDDD CATHY!!! :))))

If you have his last name, you can find out his time using Ironmanlive.com. Sorry, I’m too new here to know any last names.

The athlete finder isn’t working :frowning:
.

The athlete finder is not up today. I wish it was, lots of people I would like to follow.

I suspect that the athlete finder is not working for two possible reasons:

  • It’s a thin Ironmanlive staff on hand at the race.

  • It may be a challenge to do the athlete tracking with the wave starts that they have at this race. All the IM races, have mass starts and it’s easier to track/follow people. I know this can be figured out by handicapping the times, but it just ads another layer of complexity to it.

Any news on his race yet??? Sounds like the bike was plagued with heavy rain…

Just spoke with my girlfriend via cellphone, she said that the swim was very cold and the bike was also cold and wet. Tough conditions. She did well though, winning the 35 - 39 age-group in 4:55 after flying in from snowbound Toronto.

Interesting results in the pro race too. Some limited covereage on Ironmanlive.com.

Well, its about time you sunnyfied SoCal’ers had crappy weather for a big race! ;->

Were are you my love?

(translating: adonde estás, que num me ligas nenhuma, caragum… :stuck_out_tongue: )

I was talking with my girlfriend on the phone yesterday and she was nervous because everyone looked really tanned and fit in Califonia. We are still in the grips of late winter here in Toronto. I said not to worry. If it’s an ugly day weather-wise it’s your race. Even if it wasn’t that ugly, looking fit and being fit are very different.

Still don’t know a thing about his race but the boy likes it hot so… anyway, hopefully EVERYTHING went WRONG today and he’s cleared to win IMAZ

I left T2 together with sergio and after some waterbottle troubles his reartubular came off about 5k in the bike. dunno if he fixed it and raced on…

Gezee thanks for the info! In this case I’ll be in the garage painting the “Way to go! Win in IMAZ” sign

I talked to Sergio after the race and he said he had to take a DNF with Hypothermia after having problems with his tires and waiting around for support. Hopefully this means he got all of his bad luck out of the way prior to AZ.

Hi Klep!!

Like someone said, Sergio got all his bad race problems out of the way today. Two flats, waiting for neutral support, cold temps, etc. He was smart to call it a day after the bike.

I had a great day! Got to meet a bunch of STers–Desert Dude, Brian, Armed Avenger (and son), TomZ, Herbert (the hottie in the cowboy hat), Matt the lurker, Chris from Oomph and I’m sure I’m forgetting someone. And of course seeing Sergio, Jaylew, Gerard, Jonas, Bjorn and Paulo is always a treat. I’m totally psyched to get back training, but man, I’m glad I wasn’t racing today. Cold, wind, rain, sun…we had it all.

Oh yeah, Paulo got his bike finally.

clm

a week to forget that ended up in the medical tent with 91 of body temp

im happy that im not sick today.

Sergio, sorry to hear about the bad luck. …were you underdressed for this race or were you just underdressed to be standing around idle for a while?

Hey Fleck…there is nothing “late” about the winter. More like Spring is still on holiday down in Florida.
Snowed AGAIN today here in Waterloo

cheer up dude… all the “bad luck stuff” is out of the way now so you will be flying throught the field in AZ.

tranquilo
