Any rumors of new IMNA (NAS) race (s) next year?

I have been out of the loop a bit. I would like to know if anyone has heard any rumors of a new IM race being annouced for the US next year. I missed out on IMUSA, refuse to sign up for IMKY, and hope I do not miss out on IMMOO. So I guess I am going to gamble that a new race will be announced and if not I guess go qualify for IMUSA somewhere.

The rumor du jour (actually, every jour) is that IMAZ is moving to the fall in 2008 - so you registration for that race may take place in a few weeks.

What about the April 13th date that I have already registered for on IMAZ?

That date is fine…the rumor is that they will switch to a fall date and have a 2nd 2008 IM-AZ to make the change.

I doubt they will have 2 in 2008. Most likely the next IMAZ will be in Fall 2009.

Although I have no inside info.

there was a thread posted about 1 month ago that got all the cities correct or almost all of them and got the whole IMAZ thing straightened out if I remember correctly. Use the search posts button to find it.

I’ve heard a fairly credible rumor about IM Wilmington (North Carolina).

Thanks for the info. on the rumors. IMAZ next fall would be nice. We will see. I am going to hold out in hopes of a new race.

There are lots of rumors of a NC/VA area Ironman, I would think we’ll see one in that area soon.

I think NJSteve forgot to make his post in the pink font. I’ve been hearing about that rumor for a few years now and I’m pretty sure that it won’t happen.

Given the explination Bill Scott gave to the masses when the Blue Devil was cancelled in '04 (http://www.set-upinc.com/dukebluedevil/), I’d be VERY surprised if he took another stab at an Iron distance race. None of the reasons he states in that message have changed at all - if anything they’ve become more intrenched.

…unless… WTC has asked him to be the local RD for a new MDOT race in the area. Maybe they promised to bring their community fund and CEO challenge initiatives to bear on his local charity interests.

Who knows. Let the rumors begin…

No, my buddies in Raleigh area tell me that it is indeed true that Set Up Inc will be doing an iron distance race in Wilmington. I am pretty sure that is is not an NAS race though.
