Is anyone aware of or has anyone done IM length races that are NOT M DOT anywhere in the US/Canada in the July/Aug. time frame that they recommend?
Thanks in advance!

Vineman in Sonoma. Great location and fine course and race management.
Hmmm. Interesting that you specifically don’t care for the M-Dot races. I hope they pay attention to these threads (yours isn’t the first with a similar theme).

I think as long as they’re selling out in two days or less (IM AZ being the exception), they aren’t going to pay much attention.
Not quite Aug, but Sept 17th, the Grand Columbian in Washington State: http://www.thegrandcolumbian.com/
.
That’s very true. They probably don’t care and probably won’t ever care. Just witness the expanding number of USA-based IM events. OTOH IMFL was a really well-supported race for the most part, even though the GFT was better. I am also looking for a mid-summer IM distance race in the SouthEast. (I don’t mind driving from Floriduh but I don’t want to fly to a race…weird I know.) Anyone know of one?
I really want it to be mid to late July or very early August. I might do another IM distance (NON M DOT) in Oct. or Nov. so I need the recovery.
So as of now we have Vineman. Any others?
Thanks!
I don’t know anything about the Bigfoot Full Iron on Aug 7 in BC but I found it on a race calendar - http://www.cayusesport.com/events2002/bigfoot_full_info.htm
.
OK, we have:
Vineman
Bigfoot
Anymore? Come ON folks!

CDA also takes a long time to fill.

I think there are only 3 within your parameters. The two you mentioned and:
http://www.triathlon-levis.com/triat/accueil.asp
It’s a festival of races including an IM distance, double IM, ultramarathon, marathon, powerman, shorter duathlon, and a kids tri.
Vineman baby!
Big Foot is run by the same RD as the My First and Gulfman. Ask people in BC for reviews
The ChesapeakeMan in Cambridge Maryland is October 1st. I want do that one next year as my first. I just can’t afford the M-dot races even though I’d love to do Lake Placid. Maybe some day.
Does anyone know anything about the ChesapeakeMan race?
ChesapeakeMan is a great race. Extremely well run and RD is the same as Eagleman. It’s almost the same route as Eagleman but TWICE, BTW. Very flat race but windy so don’t let lack of elevation fool you. The only glitch for the first year was that there was a fog for the 7am swim start inhibiting visibility and they had to delay the race for 2 hours. The current changed direction and we had swim against the current. Every body significantly slower swim times. All in all I’d grade the race as an ‘A’. I might do it again.
OK folks I’m pushing it. Anymore IM length NON M DOT races in that time frame?
September - Grand Columbian, Redman, Texasman, Californiaman. go to www.trifind.com. MOst comprehensive list on the internet.
