It’s my daughters birthday today and my wife thought we should get her one of the “Video” I-pods. She went shopping locally and found that everyone was sold out. One sales person said something along the lines of a new version is coming out in the next couple of weeks so no one is order “old stock”.
Anyone know anything about this? Is something new coming out? Any info would be appreciated.

Interesting. I guess we’ll have to put something together for a card and “Wait and see” if this new one is significantly more expensive or not. I’m sure I can get an old one online somewhere if we don’t get the new ones.

Another vote to wait. There is an Apple “event” on Sept 5, and the rumor sites are pointing to the new iPod to be released then. Some are saying it will be very similar in form and function to the iPhone (ie. touch screen). I would definitely wait though – if you decide the price point on the new one is too high or don’t like it, then you can always still snag an old one at an even better price than now. I always got the picture-of-the-present in the card deal growing up…it’s not THAT bad.
