@ttbikefit that’s amazing work, do you have a Version 4 that you could share? I’ve unfortunately only got Versions 5 and 6 on hand so am stuck!
I’ll give this one ago. Not sure why mine crashes. No error messages just shuts down.
This is a download link to the installer for version 4. It will only help those who have legit (paid-for) videos on their machine. https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/sr2dzlwxdozt9fh/ErgVideo4Setup_%25282%2529.msi/file
Okay so I’ve loaded the software and the library file shows that the videos are available but when I select each of them I receive the following error “File read error - Not an EVR file” but the weird thing is, the files are actually .EVR files so I’m guessing the structure of the file .EVR files changed as the different versions got more advanced.
Interestingly, when I went into the back-up folder there was one .EVR3 file which I then renamed to be an .EVR and tried to load it in. The software reads in the video but then asks me to obtain a validation code from the website so I can only ride 5 minutes of the ride which sux..!
I also tried opening the .EVR file into notepad to see if it’s in plain text but it appears that you need a hex editor. Opening via hex editor does show a difference in structure between the .EVR3 file and the .EVR file but it’s impossible to decode. The only way I can see this working is if I find some old DVD’s of the ErgVideos that have the validation codes included??
The other alternative would be to import the videos to Golden Cheetah and then open each of the .fit files and manually stitch these together to create a workout to effectively create the same interactivity. Unfortuantely, without an associated GPS file I’m not sure it will work…
Maybe try this https://incyclist.com/ as it supports quite a few RLV formats, maybe ERV might work
Have you tried v3 of the software? That was the version on all of my dvds (20 of) from memory.
granted I’ve yet to get it working myself. I don’t know how the activation code works in terms of whether it’s tied not just to the computer but perhaps the software version and/or the location the dvd is saved. If you went to 6 from 3 then maybe the older backup files only work with v3?
I’ve only ever had Version 5.009 and above which is why I found it odd that there was a .EVR3 file sitting in the back-up directory..!
I’m trying to step through all of the workouts from my ErgVideo training plans to see if theres an easy way to pull all the data to re-create the workouts and convert them to a .MRC file so that I can import them into Golden Cheetah (I managed to get a 7x2 min. interval set up yesterday with the EnduranceIntervals video side by side but its just not the same..!)
Guys, I get the nostalgia… but really, Zwift is freaking awesome. How much time are you losing training by troubleshooting long-ago obsolete technology that’s guaranteed to stop working indefinitely any moment. I loved my Coach Troy DVD’s and my dumb-trainer but there’s a whole new technicolor world out there in Zwift and Rouvy. Innovation is good ![]()
You do realise that Ergvideos are based on smart trainers?
Real footage vs digital avatars.
Real courses we’ve seen on TdF footage vs made up worlds and routes showing squiggly lines that head off into water.
Real riders vs anonymous people power doping to look impressive.
At least originally, the ability to train offline
There’s a couple of reasons.
Products like Racermate and Ergvideo are the reason Zwifts and co even exist. It’s not nostalgia driving this. Maybe for some of us it’s because we have a lot of physical product we would like to continue using lol
