We have recently aquired a new addition to the family, Wolfie. In the spirit of her name I was wondering how difficult, if it hasn’t been done already, it would be to modify one of her squeaky toys, or just make a new one altogether. Instead of it just squeaking at the same pitch/note, we’re hoping somebody could or has made a squeaky toy that receives an impulse when the dog bites down, and that impulse is sent to some type of chip which will then emit a command to make an audible note of a desired song, such as something from the original Wolfie, Mozart that is. We’d be thrilled if little Wolfie could “squeak” the Turkish Rondo, even if it wasn’t with perfect rhythm.
You could do it with some sort of localized pressure design but a problem you’d run into is that either the protective case over the chip would crack Wolfie’s teeth or Wolfie would eventually crack the chip (if it’s in the toy). You could rig up a remote musical device outside the toy but then the toy would need some sort of battery to broadcast the impulse and you could run into the same problem/teeth/battery. Whereas the squeeky emitter is hard but flexible plastic. Not an EE but am surrounded by them. Perhaps you could teach Wolfie to bark in tune?

Yes, kind of. You don’t look though, you must gaze. It’s a global revolution that is happening. Families will all be able to watch whatever they want at the same time, amongst one another, as the grains of wood end up shifting like some strange oil pattern. Truly, this is tele-vision. Actually, we just moved in and it’s where we’ll be putting our new LCD television, in the meantime that room sits in silence, with only the high frequency sounds of the plants babbling to one another.
