I did a couple hard sets of intervals on consecutive days last week and my left wrist is absolutely annihilated. I always thought it’d be the legs to go when doing hard hill work, not my wrist. I’m guessing it’s a tendonitis type of issue, but am not totally sure. First day I did 2 x 1350’ of gain, then the next day I did 4 x 400’ of gain. I figured I should start doing some specific work to get ready for the Palomar Hill Climb that is a couple months away, as I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of my fellow slowtwitchers. Now I can’t move my wrist laterally without pain, and it sounds like things are rubbing up against each other in there. Just inflammation you think? Are there any other climbers out there that experience this, or have experienced this, and have some sort of messianic advice for me to lead me to wrist-salvation?
I had wrist pain after doing RAMROD (150 miles ~9,000 ft. climbing) on my tri bike with cow horns where I ended up standing a lot for the climbs. You might try standard drop bars. Just a thought, I really know nothing. The pain went away pretty quickly for me.
umm there are certain exercises, all guys know what they are. Tibbs teaches a class on proper technique if the rumors are true.
hope it heals
