The time gap is teensy, but I still say no. Will Evans try to pull a Vino?

well you never know in this sport and based on what we’ve seen, it wouldn’t be surprising. but i doubt a blood transfusion will help him on the last stage which is almost entirely flat and less than 100 miles.
Funny, but I didn’t mean a transfusion. I was speaking of what Vino did on stage 21 of '05. Read here.
Usually the ride into Paris is ceremonial with the race being determined the day before. Would love to see Evans go for it but it would be very difficult to put 23 seconds on a flat stage. I suspect it will be the traditional parade and let the sprinters vie for the points.
His exact words right after todays finish were: " Cadel Evans can relax, I am not going to pull a Vinokurov ".
Classy stuff !
Doubt it. Evans has to win the 20 second stage bonus and get a gap on the rest of the field in order to overtake Contador. No way Evans can do that in a sprint against the sprinters. So, he’d have to attempt a breakaway. Disco has a lot of big guns to pull him back. It’s one thing to do what Vino did in 05 and move up to fifth (?), but it’s quite another to do it against the strongest team in the race when they are defending the yellow jersey. Still, Contador probably should lay off the champagne until the race is really over.
