What do you like playing?
So far, the best ones for me are: Settlers of Canaan, Acquire, and Pente.
I used to really like RISK, but I learned that I was too competitive and nobody wanted to play with me anymore.
I just played my first game of Candyland and got whipped… by my 3 year old daughter!
OC, I have the same problem with any kind of trivia game. Too much useless knowledge in my brain…

Monopoly is the King. I still like Trivial Pursuit. As much of a Cliff Claven I am, I’m no Ken Jennings. I’ve never lost at Badlerdash, 'cuz I’m such a BSer.

Competitive?
Ours were violent when we played this in college.
“I’m coming over to Kamchatka” (Handing you the top box…jiggling the dice…)
“Take one off.”
“Come to my Trading post.”
The secret in that game was always start down in Australia or Indonesia, or wherever that was way down near the South Pacific, be low key, don’t make any early alliances, in the game, and sort of take over the world from Austrailia. Austrailian based players were players to be truly feared.
I tried to kill them immediately. I’m just chillin down there in Australia? Yeah. Experienced Risk players knew better, and we tried to immediately kill that person.
It was shortly after my Risk game experiences in College, that I went to Vanderbilt and wrote: “The Indices of Future Australian World Conflict And Domination As Evidenced By Risk Game Strategy Formulations.”
But what did every stupid player do, who got their ass blown out in 40 minutes in that game. 1. Try to take and hold Europe. 2. Make alliances with people on the board and then break them right in their face.
