Does anyone have any experience with the DA 7701 (paired crossed spokes), positive or negative? Same question concerning the DA 7800 (latest generation). Are the 7701’s laterally stiff, but vertically compliant? Any durability woes? Anything else? Thanks.
I have about 9500 or so miles on my DA7701 with no problem. I use them as training wheels (race on Zipps) but have done a couple races on them when I first bought them. No issue with lateral stiffness. Only issue with the spokes are the outside lacing. If you have Shimano brakes, take off the little plastic thingee that acts as the safety to the brake pad as it can catch on the outer spoke lacing. Other than that, they have been great wheels for me. I’d get them again.
Rode the XTR set and was VERY impressed at the ride. They have a similar design. Can’t speak for the durability though
