Another Swimming Question - I think I have it all screwed up

Ok, leave it to Slowtwich to bring me back to reality.

Had what started off as a bad swim this morning, but by the end was feeling good and moving good (for me). There was even someone at the pool who I passed. Yes they were alive, though the way they were swimming they might have been having convolsions.

Anyhow, I do some catching up here and follow a thread about the catch, follow some links to diagrams and now I think somehow my arms are all out of place (no they are not growing out of my butt).

I have always (dont know why) had my elbow at about a 90 degree bend sideways when my upper arm was pointing straight down. (at the transition from pull to push). If I was heading North my right lower arm and hand would be pointing to my left or West (at that point. It appears my arm should be pointing straight down at that point, WHY?

Why do I want my hand to make a big arc in the water? Oh wait more time further distance more time to pull/push Is that right.

Ok if this is right cant wait to get back to the pool and try this out.
