OK, fair enough. I apologize for the supercilious, patronizing tone of my first reply. I could have made my point without insulting.
A lot of the conservatives on this board don’t think the deficit is any big deal.
We’ll have to wait for a democrat to be in charge before they take the issue seriously.
but then won’t it be the democrats who don’t think that it is a big deal and the republicans who think it is a tragedy to have the national debt?
I disagree that it (the debt) is “crippling.” Otherwise, we would have been “crippled” numerous times in our past when the debt was higher, relative to national income, than it is now. I don’t disagree that it should be lower–that is one of the reasons we shouldn’t have passed the “Free Viagra for Millionaires” program.
“America’s national debt is now $7.5-trillion, and it’s skyrocketing, even as America’s population ages,” the cup read. “There will never be a better time to start paying off this crippling debt than today.”
Ya know 5 years ago, before Bush 2 came into power, that would be a very conservative thing to say and would have pissed the leftist off. Now that Bush can’t say no to a spening increase and Republicans have shown how they are cowards more worried about their own power the left has turned the tables.
I find that funny.
Not only do you have to use the Starbucks lingo when ordering a simple cup of $4 coffee, now you have to read the liberal crap printed on the cups.
Hmmmm. I must have missed that piece of legislation.
What happened to the Republican “Contract with America” anyway??? did they break it? can we sue them for breach?
It was great until Bush showed his yellow stripe and bent over to the left and gave them everything they wanted then felt bad when he didn’t give enough. I challenge anyone to prove the Republicans are not cowards. The big reason I won’t vote for them.
What happened to the Republican “Contract with America” anyway??? did they break it? can we sue them for breach?
Are you referring to ITEM NUMBER 1 on their agenda?
**1. THE FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY ACT: **A balanced budget/tax limitation amendment and a legislative line-item veto to restore fiscal responsibility to an out- of-control Congress, requiring them to live under the same budget constraints as families and businesses. (Bill Text) (Description)
I supported that when Republicans took charge, I still support it. Apparently the Republicans have changed their minds though.
Bush showed his yellow stripe and bent over to the left and gave them everything they wanted
Jeez Tibbs. Still trying to blame the drunken spending on “the left”? Pathetic.
The Governator is a major stockholder in Starbuck’s.
Trying? Bush and the Reps gave everything they wanted programs they don’t support. Of course the Reps have no ability to control themselves but a huge spike iin the spending was giving Teddy the scuba diver and friends all they wanted.
You seem to htink I am some how sticking up for the cowardly Republicans. Not true at all. To me the Democracts and the Republicans are the same. They has some diffrences but at the end of the day they are just trying to arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. They are both fools.
Thats funny…I thought the White House stock answer to the budget deficit issue was that they are spending like sailors on shore leave to protect us from Iraqi terrorists and their WMDs.
Now its Ted Kennedy’s fault…who knew he had so much power to have his agenda pushed through a Republican Congress, Senate and White House. WOW!
hehe!
Of course Teddy Kennedy can control the Republican controlled house, the Republican controlled Senate, and the Republican controlled white house.
He is the leader of the illuminati!!!
…who knew he had so much power to have his agenda pushed through a Republican Congress, Senate and White House…
Ever seen the guy? He’s huge and Irish…and drunk most of the time…He can push through anything!

He’s … drunk most of the time
That’s clever.
What you say proves my point exactly. The Republicans say defend the country at all costs. They also say we must control spending. So we go to war and instead of cutting the budget or raising taxes they give Teddy the swim coach and team everything they want because Bush lost the veto stamp. They are cowards.
Isn’t the President an alcoholic?
“He is the leader of the illuminati!!!”
There is no conspiracy. The Republicans are worried about keeping their power and will sell their soles to keep their seats. Teddy the life gaurd figured out all he had to do was push a little and the cowardly Republicans would fall.
What I say is no where near a conspiracy, it’s politics.
Worried about keeping their power?
Thanks to redistricting there are only about 6 contested seats in the whole country.
Try again Tibbs.
