Another racing flats thread- but this is different:

Not a critical issue, but sometimes an uncomfortable (and/or smelly) issue…

I run in racing shoes for 96% of my runs and every pair of minimalist shoes that I own allows water to seep through the sole of the shoe.

Anybody have experience solving this problem? What shoes are you using now?

I am using Saucony Grid Type A3 (and A4) and Asics Piranha SP3.

PS: For the smart asses, I don’t intentionally run on damp streets or wet grass, I live in a humid environment where rainfall is regular throughout the winter.

Thanks.

New Balance is apparently making a water resistant version of their Minimus, just saw it in a catalog today.

Have not yet had the problem… however all the K-Swiss shoes I own have drainage holes in the bottom of the soles. I suggested to a friend to plug those holes with a small tube of Super Glue… in your case though it just sounds like it’s soaking it up, and doubtful those shoes have drainage holes, in which case none of the above applies to you, and this reply is useless haha.

Nike streak xc.

It’s coming through the sole? So you have holes in the sole? Shoe goo the holes. If it’s coming through the uppers you’re scewed. Just get used to it.

Some might recommend a “waterproof” shoe. Don’t do it. Water will get in, and stay in. I had some GoreTex trail shoes (“waterproof”). The first time I stepped in a creek water poured in over the top (foot hole) and I sloshed for the next hour. It took DAYS for them to dry.

I’ve actually drilled holes in the soles of my “rainy day” shoes. Water just flows through.
