Another new Shiv?

Under Contador?

At Cycling news Contador said he had a more compact tt frame to try out at this race. Maybe the stock sizes were to big.

I like it! No nose cone!

Funny, it’s starting to look a bit like a Speed Concept now.

It actually looks a little like something from rts carbon.

Yes, and a Scott Plasma 3 stem setup. Really goes to show how much effort and time Trek seems to have put in while designing the Speed Concept for an entire market from beginning to pro triathlete to pro cyclist.

The Shiv seems to have been developed in a bubble the engineers might like it, but that doesn’t work for the real world consumer market. I wonder if Specialized will go “back to the drawing boards” since the Shiv is not UCI legal. It may be “okay” for a couple of the pro’s, but I suspect it may be a failure in the consumer market. But than again, they may not have been looking to sell more than a couple of them. Will be interesting to see if/when the Scott Plasma 3 gets released.

Just the UCI legalised version that was at ToC, but with a dropped toptube as far as I can see?
That’s maybe a help the sizing at the smaller end, but no change for anybody looking to have a high front end, you’d still stack up the spacers under the pads?

Under Contador?

Huh…I’m having a hard time thinking about why they just didn’t make the top tube level with the top of the stem. After all, it’s still got the external cable routing between the bars and the frame, so it’s not like the “dog house” behind the stem is a place to route the cables.

…unless, maybe this top tube configuration helps control the air flow over the upper portion of the downtube?

Aesthetically, I’m not “feelin’ it”…

Maybe Contador and some other riders prefer the little bit of extra knee clearance a dropped top tube offer vs one that is in line with the stem.

I like it! No nose cone!

+1. also looks like the guys at Specialized pay heavy attention to ST and how much everyone likes the matt black Felt…or something like that.

I’m thinking that’s more a function of the prototype nature of the beast…

Hmmm…it’s not like the top tube is uber-wide in the first place.

Myself, I’d like to hear Mark Cote’s take on this…

Mark Cote…paging Mr. Mark Cote…

Did they really have to put the ‘pistolero’ graphics on there?

Did they really have to put the ‘pistolero’ graphics on there?

I’m sure they did not really have to. But judging by the size of Contador’s ego, I’d wager he adamantly insisted on having it there.

Actually, it’s a technologically groundbreaking way of writing “I’m an ass” on the side of a bike with less paint.

“Did they really have to put the ‘pistolero’ graphics on there?”

Yes. It is bike. It’s like me looking at your outfit and saying, “Did you have to wear clothes you like and find comfortable?”

Did they really have to put the ‘pistolero’ graphics on there?

Yeah…I’m not "feelin’ " the finger-bang graphics either…

From the positioning of the graphics it seems he enjoys receiving finger bangs as much as he likes giving them out.

Seems the Transition wouldn’t get the job done then and he’s made that go ok. I see the seatpost is shimmed now, too. Original post was deeper a la P2/3/4

What’s with the C64 Carbon saddle w/o padding he’s using? That must be for prologues only, right? Ouch.

Its looking like the Suplicy frame with regards to the small tail on the seat cluster & fin behind the stem.
But the down tube different.
