Well, not really. But, a sure sign of how poor of a job the State legislature does of focusing on the priorities. You know, the little things like our crumbling school system, unfunded pensions, etc.
I like the part that mandates having a substitute caregiver every two hours. So, in effect, you have to find two babysitters everytime you want to go out. When we get a sitter, the kids are in bed by 8 PM and we usually get home no later than Midnight. So, I have to offer “break time” to someone who is sitting on the couch texting her friends and eating our food???
Around here, it’s hard enough on a Friday night during school to land at least one high-school age girl to watch the kids…let alone two.
Unfortunately, the unreasonable costs and risks contained in this bill will discourage folks from hiring housekeepers, nannies and babysitters and increase the use of institutionalized care rather than allowing children, the sick or elderly to be cared for in their homes.
In short it’s not about the “Employees” safety, protection or otherwise. It’s about driving the now, relatively untraceable money and wages, to more traceable routes so they can get their chunk.
