The district attorney’s office said Berndt has been charged with committing lewd acts with 23 boys and girls ages 6 to 10, according to the Associated Press.
Some of the photos showed girls with what appears to be a spoon up to their mouths as if they were going to ingest a clear-white liquid. A spoon and container found in trash in Berndt’s classroom tested positive for semen, the sheriff’s department statement said.
Local news is reporting that when the school district was confronted with the evidence, they called the teacher in for a talk. The perv was told to retire or be fired. Retiring gives the perv full benefits. Perv retired. Now, he will collect full benies while in jail. They are also reporting that there has been complaints in the past against the perv, but no action was taken.
Local news is also reporting that the LAUSD and teachers union have circled the wagons and are not helping with the investigation. The term used was “management lockdown”.
Why the hell would they give someone accused of that the option of retiring? The fact that they think he is entitled to benefits after abusing those children and his position is ridiculous.

How and the hell does he get away with it since 2008? I realize the story says the kids thought they were playing a game, but, none of them said anything to their parents that made the parents suspicious?

Where are the pension funds coming from? They should be able to take away any employer contributions, but to deny someone (even a shitbag) their own money is a lost battle and will cost you more in court.
