Another Infinit Question

Hey everyone. I have successfully used Infinit since the end of last season and love the stuff. I have entered Ironman Louisville this year and have a question since I have not used it for something that long. Let’s assume one bottle of Infinit fulfills my nutritional needs. However, I am a heavy sweater, so I will need to drink more water for hydration. Do you guys add additional electrolytes to the plain water? If so, what have you used?

Thanks!

First nothing “new” for the race. Practice during training. I take along salt tabs separately and take as needed.

Use discount code fit2tri for your next purchase of Infinit.

Cheers.

Nope, my Infinit mix has a TON of sodium. Tossed the salt tabs at IMAZ without taking a single one (granted, wasn’t THAT hot), but i am a very heavy and salty sweater.

What is your electrolyte level set at in your Infinit mix? Thanks!

Here’s the nutritional

I’ve got mine set at 380. I was worried about the taste if I went to high. I’m quite a salty sweater too - after training/racing, I’m encrusted with white. Obviously, you find the taste to be palatable at that level. I may bump mine and give it a try.

I also concentrate so my taste sliders are at like one or two clicks
.

A good starting point is about 375-400 for the guys. Bump it by 50 mg if you have a lot of cramping issues.

For the ladies, 325. Woman are more sensitive to salt flavors, not sure why. Again, bump that up by 50mg if you have a lot of cramping issues.

That is a good range for just about anyone.

Hope that helps!

I sweat and get cramps often in HIM distance races. I’m training for my first IM. Is 525mg too much then?

No, it’s not too much. It is more of a flavor issue. Tons of my people like that amount of salt in their drink. But if you were new to INFINIT , that amount might be a little too much for your first time. If you like it, and you are used to it, there are no problems with taking some extra salt.

But again, I am of the opinion that salt is used primarily as a transporter of fluid out of your gut. I don’t think that electrolyte is the thing that eliminates cramps. It’s not like taking salt with no fluids is going to keep you from cramping. Having enough salt to move fluids that keeps your system hydrated helps crampers/heavy sweaters.
