Another fake ebayer? Lance's bike!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72573&item=3682599787&rd=1

look at this! LA’s bike! Yeah right. Those pics were taken off of cyclingnews.com

notice the seller is new with zero feedback score, he gives no account of how he got Lance’s bike etc.

seems fake to me

I just had to bid on it…LOL
.

Is it the wide-angle lens used to shoot the photo or is that Vetta computer really that huge?

Brett

Hmm…I didn’t think that Bontrager tires would have ‘Hutchinson’ clearly printed on them, but maybe I just don’t know tires. And somehow the Bontrager on the stem got mis-spelled to say ‘Deda Newton’ - bet somebody got fired for screwing that up…and for misspelling Bontrager as ‘Shimano’ on the seatpost too…whoever did the Quality Control on this bike must have showed up for work drunk the day this one went through.

Josh

(No offense intended to Quality Control personnel of any manufacturer that may or may not show up drunk for bike inspections - just attempting to reason some of the ‘mistakes’ with this bike)

When you’re just messing with a fraud auction lister, how do you make a ridiculous bid without getting held accountable for it? Do you just bid really high and then report the auction as a fraud to ebay and hope it gets straightened out or the “seller” runs away?

Is that a Commadore 64 on the bar?

Of course this could be someone trying to sell a bike who didn’t have access to their own pics so they used someone else’s (cyclingnews) to advertise. Its common. Just like the Ebay stores who use the same picture to sell hundreds of the same item. I don’t know if this is a scam or not. Just playing devil’s advocate in the fact that it may not be. . . After all. . .the “errors” in equipment listed vs pictured are too obvious. . .

Honestly, this could be the real deal. It looks like they copied and pasted the info from trek’s website. If you watch the LA chronicles, he rides a shimano seat post and is still running with deda stems/bars. However, they used Chris King headsets that year. The cranks are team issue cranks so it could be real. I see they have 4 bids now. I actually saw this the other night and wondered if it was real.

Have ya’ll noticed the new 2004 Litespeed Blade that gets put up for auction form Great Britian about every week starts at $99 but never makes it. I guess these guys just need one sucker to capitalize.

What pisses me off is that ebay has a hard time keeping up with this flagrant abuse of its service but it is unusually efficient at finding my auction and unlisting it b/c I used “not _____,____, ___” i.e. other brands. ex: Hed wheel not zipp, mavic.

My $.02

and this was the response I got…

I wrote the dude with a snide comment to the effect that Lance must be related to Plastic Man if he can morph to fit all those different sized Treks.

Scam city. Stay away from that auction.
