a few weeks back i posted an issue with my CT where the program would cut out. someone suggested it was the viruscan forcing that to happen. that does appear to be the case. thanks…
now i have another issue. last night a new problem started. all of a sudden the graphics become ‘fuzzy’ and generally crappy, then the road ‘disappears’. the program continues to run and the course continues on but the graphics seem to seize up.
What kind of video card do you have, and have you seen any other strange behavior outside of the Computrainer program? I found that running this with a weak video card was a problem, so I upgraded and the problem went away. I think I am running an older NVIDIA GeForce 3 card with 128 MB of VRAM. Picked it up at CompUSA for $50 on clearance a while back.
Yup, happens frequently and I don’t know how to fix it. I love my computrainer, but I’m not impressed by their programming ability. In the end, the program controlling the whole thing has to be pretty simple (the only variables are the unit’s resistance being controlled by the computer and your speed+cadence) and its a shame they can’t get it to work properly. A couple of computer oriented triathletes/cyclists could easily take their business away by developing a superior, more reliable product. I would make the jump.
i have the intel 82xxx that came with it. could have sworn i read something somewhere along the lineso f the CT not working great with the intel card?? im not a computer expert at all. someone else also recommended upgrading as well.
Yeah, spend a ilttle cash on a better vid card. It’s worth it. Then again, I do most of my computrainer workouts in ergo mode without the computer turned on…
I have a 64MB NVidia card which is well beyond the recommended specifications and the graphics cut out still happens. I have updated all drivers, etc. Upgrading may help, or it may be a waste of your money. Since the problem doesn’t happen everytime, I’m suspicious that its still the anti-virus software or some other program running in the background that is fouling up the works. Perhaps Microsoft Auto Updater?
it has been suggested to go into ‘msconfig’ and turn pretty much everything off. i tried that and the computer wouldnt let me get away with it. is this something that would help keep the superflouous programs from running? if so, any idea which files i absolutely need to keep on?
thanks
this problem has happened to me more than once. When it di I would keep riding and eventually the road would come back. (sometimes 20 min later)… My computer is well stocked so that wasn’t the problem either.
Just some kind of flaw with the ct i guess. No real interuption other than just being annoying.
