Another bike dilema?

Hi,

My name is Gregory. I train triathlon since 2yrs now. My first ride was Storck Aero (G1). Since I am thinking of changing my bike I focused on Felt IA or Scott plasma 5. The problem is that I cant decide because both looks nice. Is there any advantage one over another ?

Main concern is that I use stages power meter and need to put it on the new bike.

Why don’t you see which one fits you better.
Both size and cost wise.

The problem is that here where I live its not possible. We dont have any dealer of felt having felt ia and scott dealer said that its not possible to have this bike till end of the year. Even when he have No test ride permitted. Thats why I ask.

Would you buy a car without test driving it? Tell the dealer that no test ride = no buy. Fit is more important that anything else on a tri bike

But in order to test it i need to take a trip to germany because in Poland there is No felt dealer. As for scott i am rather more towarów felt ia. I really dont know what to do. I have last zin from retul. Maybe it can help ?

Don’t you think a good fitter can fit him if the size of the bike is similar to what he has? Unless he has some special need in fitting, I’d think the better fitters would get him there. So, buy the bike you like (preferably trying it out first, but if you can’t, c’est la vie) then get to a good fitter. For the record, I always try before I buy, but this fellow may be in Kurdistan, or worse…

Poland according to the post just before yours. For the record I bought my last bike without trying it. It was a Canyon so no dealers other than if you go to Koblenz. Had a friend with one that I eyed up though and Canyon has a system where you enter your measurements and it tells you which size you should choose. Worked out well for me, luckily.

Well at the end I bought without trying. My choice is cervelo p5 DA di2 11s.

Your main concern is the $400 power meter has to work with one of your $10,000 bikes?

Get the cheaper of the two and an SRM?

Congrats. The P5 (when set up just right of course) can be a rocket !

.

I will buy vector for that matter or power2max :). At the end I can also fit stages to p5 as I have stages in all my other bikes.

Sure, fit numbers may be correct. However, you should test ride the bike to make sure you like the “feel” of it

I just bought a car 2 weeks ago without ever stepping foot in it. Bikes are even less important to try before you buy.

Congrats. I could not do that. I once test rode a 2011 Felt B14 and a 2011 Cervelo P2. Both bikes “felt” different. It could have been a lot of factors or my perceptions of each bike. I ended up with the P2. I almost bought the Felt until I rode the Cervelo. Everyone does things differently. I could never buy a bike or car without test riding it

Of bikes I’ve got in the last 20 years, I didn’t ride any before buying. Pretty happy with all - there were 2 or 3 of the 11 or 12 bikes that I didn’t love, but it took more than a year of riding to find that out.

Actually, there was one bike that didn’t work at all - but I strongly suspected that before riding. The ride just confirmed the problem, and I returned it immediately.
