a few observations (1) lance was obviously inspired by the high cadence style of #113, years before he started training with carmichael 
(2) these kids should have checked in with the RAAM racers - by 1986 they were already using aero bars. i’m suprised that anyone was doing the spenco 500, which was part of the “ultra” scene rather than the road racing scene, without some kind elbow rest at least, if not full-on aero bars (3) todd ayars needs bike shoes, and looks young! oh, and his seat is too low …
