What do you use to paint it? I’m thinking of painting my Giro A2 some bright ass color so people can spot me on the course.
Have any pics of other painted versions?
I used silver/metal spray paint as a base coat. I then used Sharpie Paint markers (oil based) to complete the mouth and eyes.
Do you have to sand anything down? Or just spray point directly on top of everything?
My A2 is already matte finish; should be fine to paint right on but curious.
Yeah I used goof off to get the original clear coat and decals off. I then lightly sanded the entire helmet. I then cleaned the surface and used very thin layers of spray paint. It took me 5 days to complete the base metal finish. Spray paint can look good if you use very thin layers and use A LOT of patience lol

Nice! I’m thinking of painting my helmets in a similar fashion.
btw, The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk made the sharks teeth famous, not the P-51

I’ve been thinking about painting mine as well, but I was under the impression i couldn’t paint over the logos for some reason?
I removed the logos first. Just go for it. If you mess up REALLY bad then just paint the whole thing a solid color. No one will ever notice.

I painted the helmet white. The teeth and eye are RC plane decals.
