5:00 today was supposed to be the start of my vacation, which included the annual pilgrimage to Penticton to race &/or register. Yesterday afternoon one of my main clients dropped a pretty significant RFP that is due Sept.2nd, so I’m pushing the holidays out by a week. I was really looking forward to getting back out to the Okanagan, but I think the plan is pretty much flatlined at this point.

I guess my options at this point are to hope they open up online registration for 3-4 minutes, or buy a community fund slot. Has anyone ever got a spot in IMC online?

I’ve gotten in on-line once. It was in 2006 for the 2007 race.
But things have changed since then…

Hey,

Last year they did go online, I got mine this way. With this year’s economy you’ll get in for sure, just keep an eye on what time they go on sale monday. Lake placid always sells out onsite and it went online, CDA took a couple weeks to sell out online. You’ll be fine.

I got in online for this year, and the recent trend (looking at other IMs, as well) suggests there should be even more available for next year.

Ouch on the vacation slide out!! (Can’t use the non-refundable tickets excuse??!!)

IMLP went on line for approx 30 mins this year. Year ago they had zero on line slots, two years ago about 10 minutes worth.

Echo the economy drum beat as reason to sleep easy that you’ll get on line action for IMC.

Now go win that proposal and stimulate Barrack’s economic engine…

Don’t worry, I am sure the IMC folks are gonna allow 4000 entries this year…

I got my IMC slot this year online during the 5 minutes they were available last August.

Just tell your boss/client you have H1N1 flu which requires a mandatory 7 day quarantine…instant vacation.

Thanks folks, this is encouraging. I can’t really use the non-refundable tickets excuse because it was my call to push it out.

I’ll get a jump on the response this week-end and see if I can get to a point where I’m comfortable with a hand-off later next week. Outside chance this will happen (and I’ll be able to hit the road Friday) but it’s good motivation…

I feel your pain…in today’s environment, it seems everything gets dropped when a RFP comes through.
