At a recent triathlon I participated in, a triathlete was rear ended by another triathlete during the bike section. The one who got hit from behind apparently admitted that he suddenly moved left, and the guy who came from behind is a very fast age grouper. The guy who hit him was able to continue and still won his age group, the one who got hit I think lost 3 teeth in the incident and did not finish.
I saw him after the race and he looked rough. Yikes.
that’s bad to hear. Let’s all hope that TnT has a good dental plan.
Why did he suddenly move left. Probably reaching for a water bottle? I almost got taken out that way. I wonder if the passing rider remembered to shout “on your left”.
It’s actually a miracle that there aren’t more accidents than there are in triathlon.
I don’t know the details, I just saw the end result.
