An army of Danes invade RMNP!

So the flatland living in-laws are in town this week. The wife and I took them up to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National park to play tourist. While enjoying the scenery on the Trail Ridge Road, I saw a large group (30+) of matching kit club riders … all in orange and blue, riding very European road bikes (Gazelles seemed popular). The kits were obviously club kits, and they had a Rabobank logo as a club sponsor.

Anyway, the oldsters looked great on their bikes. And the language they spoke sounded to my untrained ears like Danish. All the riders looked like they were having a blast as they descended from about 12,000 feet. Awesome. Looked like fun. I wished I was riding with them, instead of hauling around the in-laws.

How was the road? I thought they were doing some big road construction project up there.

I’m a bit surprised Trail Ridge is open this early given the number of airport-closing snowstorms you had up there this winter. A peloton in the mountains is truly a beautiful sight.
