I think the fact that Chrissie is racing means that nobody will dog it too much. Can you imagine the
shit a pro would catch if they got chicked in a major TT??
I think that Lieto will still be able to manage top 10 and salvage some Tri Pride…
It will be very cool to see Sparticus and Lieto put in a best effort on the same course on the same day.
I guess they’ll be riding 2 hours apart…so wind & temps could be different but it will still maybe be the best
chance ever to get the respective bests* from the two sports go head-to-head.
I’ll admit Lieto is not an Oly specialist, so there are maybe a few others in the conversation for Tri…
but he is a certainly someone who can represent the best we have in the sport .
It is doubtful that 85% of the cyclists will be going all out, most of the domestics and sprinters will just try to ride comfortably and recover for the days ahead.
The TOC ends on Sunday, so there is only one day ahead, but you may be right about them riding comfortably.

I can only imagine the shit most support riders would get from the team manager if they hammered the TT and came out flat the next day.
I hate to break it too you but 75% of the field will be on cruise control during TT and I bet 90% have no idea who Chrissie or Chris are and could prob care less.

For guys who can do 30mph, 27 IS cruise control. I was at the Solvang TT last year and you can tell the guys who are really dogging it since they just use their road bikes.
There are no big stages left, so most of the US guys will push it. Some of the Liquigas guys will piano it.
Just had dinner with Dan. Lieto is off first at 11a and I think Dan said he’s off somewhere around 20 minutes after that… all riders are off in one-minute increments. Not sure when Macca goes off.
But Chrissie’s minute man is… Dan. We’re all giving him a hell of a time, betting on when “the catch” will take place.
I think he’s most worried about being tested afterward; he had meatloaf for dinner. Anything could be in that.
