America's Running Routes-post one

Check out http://www.usatf.org/routes/. Not much in the database as yet, but if all good 'Twitchers post one it should grow quickly.

Very cool. I just added one for Brockton, MA.

So how does one zoom in on the map?

The zoom tool is on the left side of the map.

Hey stalkers: I just mapped the route I’m running tonight.

Hey maimi – not a stalker (heck, I’m on the opposite corner of the country to you), but I’m thinking that posting your route like that, and announcing it, may not be the smartest thing. You have a body guard running with you?

It’s a very populated route on heavily-trafficked roads (as are all roads here). No worries!

And as a note to potential attackers: I carry an arsenal of weapons, am best friends with the chief of police, and am a ninja in my spare time. Also, everyone on this forum will be hunting you down if anything happens to me tonight!

When I pull it up, I get:

Move map

Draw map

Add water

Undo

To start

Out & back

Clear all

No zoom. About the best I can do is to zoom in by zip code, but that’s WAY too far to map a route. Using Internet Explorer… Different result on Mozilla?

On the map, there should be a thing with arrows pointing in all 4 directions. Below that is a slider that goes up and down. If you move the slider up, it zooms in. Down zooms out.

The zoom feature is on the map itself on the left hand side…you should be able to move the slider up and down (basically the mapmyrun.com site ASPed to USATF).

Yup – using Mozilla I get it. Not so with Internet Explorer though. Thanks!

That is a damn cool website. I like being able to add water location points on the map. They just need to allow people to upload .gpx files directly and it will fill up quickly since personal telemetry devices are rife.

gpx (the GPS Exchange Format) is a light-weight XML data format for the interchange of GPS data (waypoints, routes, and tracks) between applications and Web services on the Internet.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I am safe and sound (don’t lose any sleep!). Didn’t end up following my route though… Mother Nature called and I detoured…

Very cool. Someone needs to make one of those for bike routes!
