Owners of the first gen Kindle were put first in line for the new toy if they ordered by 2/10 for a ship date of this past Sunday, and mine arrived today. It’s thinner, lighter, faster, better battery life claimed. All of my previous book, magazine and newspaper purchases automatically synched during the initial charge, but documents I have emailed to the device did not - I put those on an SD card in the old device and any I still want will have to be manually moved over again, although most of these are transient things to read and review but not retain. The awkward parts of the physical interface in version 1 that I noticed have been fixed - mostly issues with butttons, and the fact that the power and wireless switches were on the back. Graphics draw faster now, and pages turn faster. However the thing still costs $360 (+ tax if you live in WA).
