I’ve been watching that product from some time, but, just could not figure out how I would use it. I could be wrong, but, doesn’t it basically tether to your phone, so, your phone acts as the connection and, if so, you will burning through data like crazy. In other words, if you are using it play XM Radio or Spotify, etc., it is basically using your phone’s data plan.
Seems like you would burn through your data plan pretty quickly.
I’ve been watching that product from some time, but, just could not figure out how I would use it.
I can. Every time I drive I remember something I want to look up. After each 2hr drive I exit the car with a post it note with 10 things I need to google.
Or work ideas I need to write down. Or meetings I need to set up. If I could dictate emails I’ll be way more productive.

I don’t care much about Alexa Auto though. I’d rather be tied in to Google than Amazon (even as a prime subscriber), and Android Auto is pretty great.

My in-laws got us two Alexa’s for Christmas, haven’t figured out what I would use them for so they are still in the box.
There has got to be close to 80K tasks Alexa can perform for you. Music on demand, recipes, pictures, calendar notifications, phone calls, news, control of house lights and locks, cameras. The list is endless and everyday there is something else added. And there is a lot of family games too…

I am dumbfounded by this. We have the Show in the kitchen and some Echo device in every room. Nearly all our lights are controlled by voice. We have the Ring Alarm and Ring cams, all controlled by Alexa. Front and back door locks are part of the system. We have Amazon music steaming every day. Just got the Logitech remote that ties into the Echo, so, Alexa controls the t.v. I love the fact that, in any room in the house, I can say “Alexa, re-order paper towel” and boom, it is done. Wifie asks the weather every day. I ask for sports updates. Alexa is my daily alarm. Wifie uses her constantly as a cooking timer. Wifie also pulls up recipes on the Show. Alexa changes the heat/ac.

I’m a professional tech geek. But at home, I generally like as little tech as possible. I do have an Android phone, but I have most of the features disabled (to the extent that Google will let me).
When I need to change the heat, I put another log in the woodstove.
some of this functionality is available with the amazon music app on your phone. press a button on the phone, it listens, say play this artist, and it plays that artist. provided you either have a data connection, and the phone connected to the car - either via bluetooth or an aux cable, it works. It seems like this new product eliminates the need to manipulate the phone while driving - which IL recently made illegal.
