Reading the coverage on Cyclingnews…that had to be some serious descending skills! Sounded like he just dropped like a stone…shades of Il Falco and the other great descenders in grand tour history…
Too bad they had to go up again… Looks like Basso made a deal to give away the stage win for support in the break. It worked toperfection. While the group of 5 dicked around and made the Pink do most of the work, they all lost their places. That little break that was down to 30 seconds or so at one time, ended up taking the pink, 3rd and 4th in the GC now. Bet some of those guys wish they had worked a bit harder now…Forcing the pink to work is all well and good, except when he is really not in pink anymore…
Great race, and hats off to Basso for giving the stage away for the GC…
Given what’s coming tomorrow I don’t think anyone in the group of 5 had a doubt that it is Basso’s tour.
No doubt, but they gave away the other podium spots that they were all fighting for. Does no one care about the podium anymore???
