sailnfast and I plopped in the lake this morning along with a few others and after an initial adjustment period, it was quite comfortable even with sleeveless suits. we went in at the ohio st. beach in chicago where it’s quite shallow, so that helped.
unfortunately, I will be confined to the spinning bikes at the gym while I wait for the insurance company to buy me a new bike. one reason not to use a trunk-mounted rack.
The water should be heating up after the last couple of days.
What happened with your trunk mounted rack?
Can’t you buy a new bike and have the insurance company reimburse you?
Is it auto insurance or your homeowners/renters insurance that covers your bike in that situation.
I am so sick of swimming in the pool, I have been yearning to get into the lake. A friend was in on Saturday or Sunday and said the temp was 57 degrees (also @ Ohio Street Beach).
Are you part of a Tri group?
I was rear-ended on sunday, that’s the problem with the rack.
I’d rather wait to buy the bike just because I’m not familiar with how insurance reimbursement works. it sounds like I need to get a written appraisal from an lbs first. it’s the other drivers’ (there were 3 cars involved, which complicates things) auto insurance that covers it because I don’t have it separately insured with my renters-it’s not a terribly expensive bike so probably not worth the extra cost.
I’m not in a tri-group, just have a couple friends I went swimming with. one I met through st and one we met at the seahorse. you’re welcome to join us-just pm me your email and I’ll add you to the list.
