How frustrating. Hosting 9 editions and then this stuff happens. At least the L version is still on.
On May 21, 2026, nine municipalities in the Bauges region informed us that they had issued municipal ordinances prohibiting our event from taking place on a section of the cycling route. This was a sudden and unexpected decision, coming just two weeks before the event. In light of this, the Savoie Prefecture confirmed that it could not issue the necessary authorization to maintain the planned route.
Hopefully it can come back again next year in the proper XXL format. It’s definitely one of my bucket list races.
