Allergic reaction at IMCDA?

Just read this from Slowman on the Tri One 0 One coverage:

“There is algae present around this lake, in spots, and some folks have an allergy. This is the same sort of thing that happens to some folks at Couer d’Alene, tho in that latter case the culprits thought by some to be pollen.”

As an allergy sufferer, and Iron virgin heading to CDA in 2 weeks, this is a little concerning. Anybody have any experience with this?

I don’t know why he would make a comment about algae in Lake CDA … you’ll see that for yourself in less than 2 weeks now but it isn’t very accurate. There may well be the usual pollens present in the air that most of the country has this time of year … but the fact that some of it naturally falls into the lake wouldn’t make it different. Swimming in Lake CDA is a true pleasure for those of us who have to deal with algae lakes through much of the year. Just be glad you didn’t do 101 today!

When my dad went to clearlake 50 years ago, it was clear.

When I went as a kid 35 years ago, the algae was SO BAD it was disgusting.

It is no way as bad today as it is has been, but still not great water.

Yeah, CdA is pretty much algae free. There is some pollen due out soon, but no algae.
