All You Guys Complaining About Mdot Sellouts: Canadian and Esprit Irondistance and halfiron

OK, we have a double header weekend of Iron distance and half Iron distance racing in Ottawa and Montreal over the next 2 weeks.

I wrote about them here for you guys wanting some more context:
http://www.xtri.com/...p;CAT=21&xref=xx Great events and best of all no 365 day advance sign up and no 7 day hotel minimums with jacked up hotel rates…and both great cities with lots of stuff for families or single people to do. Flat courses that won’t allow you to let up on the throttle if you want a PB, but PB courses nonetheless if you push wire to wire. One of these years we gotta get Bjorn or Rappstar out to take the IM bike course record to sub 4:10! Hope to see you at both. Dev

I will say that the Esprit is a race that every triathlete should try and compete in.

If I hadn’t burned through all my vacation time this year, I would be making the trip up to Montreal to race it.

I believe your life is incomplete if you have never partied in Montreal. This city beats the sum of London, Reykjavik, Amsterdam, Barcelona and even Corfu on a hot summer day waiting for the ferry to Brindese…but I digress, this thread is supposed to be about triathlon and unlike my 19 year old life in Montreal, the closest that I get to any party is the post race smack talk in transition which is sad reflection of how my life has changed in the past 25 years…actually my 4th triathlon that I did was the Montreal International Tri in 1986 (predecessor to Esprit). I believe the winner was Ken Glah with Tony Richardson (anyone remember him) in the mix. The women’s field had Jan Wanklyn and a number of team Foxcatcher ladies in there. The Puntous twins were making a celebrity appearance. The Montreal Canadiens had won the Stanley cup that year and Patrick Roy was a saint in Montreal…although I missed the post Stanley Cup party on account of being at a party in Amsterdam (true story…)…life can’t get much better than that.

I am really looking forward to the 1/2 at the canadian, it has been a couple of years since I have done it
not to jinx anything but the weather is looking good!
