I received an email video yesterday that all cyclists will love to see!
The description that came with the email says “A couple of kids are driving down a residential street when the kid in the back seat tries to knock some other kid off his bike by opening up the driver-side back door. Chalk the rest of the clip up to Karma.”
In a somewhat twisted way, it will put a smile on your face to see what happens. I can’t figure out how to post it to ST. Can I email the clip to someone with more technical skills than I have? It is a in a .wmv format and is 681kb size.
For me it’s the the thrill of a dumbass getting retribution for being a dumbass…kid tries to hurt another kid, video tape it to put on the internet and laugh about it and in the end he gets his due…that’s what I laugh at
.
Maybe I’ve been the dumbass often enough to relate to the guy being hurt. All of us as kids did a lot of stupid things and most often we were lucky enough to get away with it. It doesn’t make me feel superior to watch someone who didn’t. I mean, to each his own, I guess, but I think it’s a maturity thing.
I didn’t enjoy watching the kid get hurt, but I don’t disagree that this is a modern version of “nature, red in tooth and claw.” Humanity has done very well to insulate ourselves from natural selection, so when it does happen it’s hard to argue with, especially when caught on videotape.
If this is the same clip I have seen (probably is) there’s a bit of back story to it. It seems the kid who got whacked is not dead or premanently damaged. He was posting a few weeks later on some board or another about the incident (and roundly being condemmed as a major dumbass).
The truly sad part was that he did not seem to have learned anything from the incident.
I don’t feel superior or anything like that and I’m not happy or excited to see him get hurt. It’s just nice to see a situation where a dumbass gets his due and perhaps he won’t do it again. I’ve done dumb things in my life, many as a teen, and scraped by without getting hurt or worse but there was always a line you didn’t cross and its obvious here that these kids were crossing the line. No way can you justify what they were doing and feel sorry for the kid, he got his due. Just too bad that it resulted in such a bad incident (I’m guessing based on the slow mo that he broke a few bones in his face).
The world wouldn’t have these kinds of problems if large predators were still a threat.
Remember the Far Side cartoon with the caption, “I know you miss the Wainwright’s, Bobby; but they were weak, stupid people- that’s why we have wolves and other large predators.”
Come on, how many posts have we all read where some ST’er is accosted while biking and the Peaceful Tribe calls for the blood of the idiot in the truck/minivan/speeding car??? Well, this clip shows someone getting their due. The dickhead was willing to knock some innnocent kid off his bike while travelling fast enough to hurt or kill the kid. I’m glad he got his face busted up, he absolutely deserved it. If only ALL justice could be delivered so quickly and so accurately.
Actually the guy and his buddy that was driving the car posted on another message board that the “kid” on the bike was a friend of theirs not some random innocent kid. They were messing with him and are friends.
Remember the last thing you hear before a redneck dies is…hold my beer watch this.

And that’s relevant because??? Friend or not, he’s a dumbass!
It really isn’t other than it wasn’t an act of pure meanness. Stupid yes but malicious not really. We used to do some pretty mean shit to our friends growing up.

Got it, but still confused…first you say that it was not out of pure meanness but in the next line you say you did “pretty mean shit to our friends”…so what you are saying was that in this case it wasn’t “pure” meannes, just mean. “pure” being malicious, and just mean being stupid…OK, makes sense…kinda. Friends or not, if you’re going to dirve by your buddy in a car and knock him off his bike with a car door (going pretty quick comparatively), I would put that up there with being somewhat malicious. Back in my day, being mean to your buddy was pulling his pants down in the lunch room line in front of the girls…not kncoking him flying off his bike at 30mph with a car door.
