Alcatraz bike choice

I am racing Escape from Alcatraz and know the course if hilly and technical. Any suggestions on bike choice? Road vs. tri bike? My tri bike has a compact crank.

This was discussed about a month ago, J. Sorry, I can’t recall the answer but check the search posts facility at the top of the page. I think it came down as road bike.

I used a Colnago with shorty aerobars and my seat position altered very slightly. It worked very well. If I had it to over I would use my R2.5 or a Soloist set up roadie with some Visiontech shorties or Hed shorties and a compact crank. That would be perfect. Light tubulars like 404’s or 606’s would be killer on that course. I’d use a 50/34 in the front and a 11-23 in the rear.
