Tempe Town Lake busting out a 16 flat 5K. Maybe Leadman race this weekend in Tempe, Arizona.
Was he doing a recovery jog?
there are 300+/- kids doing that every year on their way to an 8k. i really hope it was effortless as in not having to open his mouth to breathe. although, i am really hoping he “busts out” this weekend and goes fast.
I hope he wasn’t trying. For a 13:10 guy, that’s barely long run pace.
edited to add - not trying to sound like a dick. i actually hope he kills it at triathlon… i just hope he’s in better shape than that!
Since he’s run 4:0X mile this spring I think his fitness is fine.
That’s like a Z3 tempo pace for him. Close to the pace he’d run for a 70.3.
He smoked the swim part too…by the time I got my lazy ass out of the lake and running, those guys were either done or smoking up the run in.

Excited to do first individual race @LifeTimeTri Marquee Sprint in Tempe on Sunday.
Did anyone else notice that his splits were almost exactly the same (swim/T1/run) as the guy who finished with the same time? As if they were doing it together?

We’ve seen you swim, hardly a tribute…

Yeah I noticed that also.
I think the result was a little underwhelming but he was probably just training and having fun with that guy.
As a side note. I have a hard rule:
run, swim- good
Swim, bike, run- good
Swim, run- bad, very has
It is not just the vomitting, I cannot run after swimming.
Are there any other strong swimmer-triathletes out there who hate aquathons?
I’d venture a guess that him and McDowell were just out having fun. McDowell isn’t exactly some slouch either.
16min 5k is not fast actually it’s very slow for ITU triathlon and probably slower than a tempo for him
My coach has been over in the US doing some work with him, suffice to say he was blown away by his ability to pick up stuff and his general talent.
Look forward to seeing how he goes, he’ll need to run very close to open speed if he’s gonna be up there with the likes of Mola who ran a 13.55 (on a dead accurate) course at Mooloolaba
