I just got back from riding and trying to run the course. There was a lot of cars out this morning on the I-80 going up to Tahoe, but not many on the actual course. Up at the top of the main climb in (or just outside) of Colfax there is snow on the ground and it was a bit windy on the course too. I road a 23 up the climb and that was not bad at all, strong climbers could go with a 21 without question.
The run reminds me of Wildflower '03, it was not doable at all. Very muddy and nasty on the Western States part of the trail. We didn’t even get more than a few steps before we decided to run someplace else.
The water in Lake Clemantine is extremely cold (not sure on the exact temp). It is going to be hard to really get going (ie warm) to climb up those first 2miles out of the lake. Temps were very cold even climbing.
If you have rear mounted bottle holders that have a chance of launching bottles it will happen on the course. Two bottles were dropped at the base of the small climb on Forest Hill road.
These are only my thoughts and views on what I went through this morning. We were at T1 at 8am this morning.
