Aggro roadies and euskatel gear

in just about every road race i’ve done the aggro people in the pack have been wearing euskatel. maybe it’s just the same people being cocks over n over again. why are some people so abusive in something people are doing for fun? next time i see someone being a cock in a pack i think i am gonna call em on it…so far i’ve just ignored it and laughed about it with other people in the pack, but yeah why are some people such cocks when it comes to road racing?

The same reason people are that way in all walks of life.

It’s sad, but ultimately the only way they will change is if the decide they need to.

Sometimes bulling the bully can be that wake up call-let us know if it works out for you and more importantly for him.

Orange=Agressive…just look at those whacked out drunken Basque fans.

In one race I did last summer, I was riding about 2 ft to the right of another rider in the pack and he kept yelling at me to move over, hold my line, stop forcing them to the left, etc. I never came close to actually contacting this rider. I wonder what he would post about me.

By the way, what races are you doing where riders are wearing Euskatel jerseys? You’re not doing pro races are you?

haha nah…was just doing round lake taupo ride. i did a race earlier in the year and the only cocks i came across were wearing euskatel gear. same with this ride. these roadies who think they’re the man are fucking lame.

It seems to be the Europro wannabee syndrome that affects lower category and club riders. They have the gear and think they are the shit. I see quite a few of these when I do the odd big group ride for training in early spring. Interesting that you never see Cat 1/2 riders wearing the full pro tour kit, they tend to ride what their team provides for them.

We have a huge MS 150 here, and without fail the most unreasonable, aggressive and dangerous riders are the Exxon Mobil guys. They ride in pacelines of 15 or 20 and shout obsecenities at people who don’t move right fast enough when they shout “LEFT!”. Then I saw them cutting in line at the showers later in the afternoon. People’s behavior is truly shocking. How are guys like that even enjoying themselves?

Interesting. Around here, I get the most crap from recreational riders. They’re the ones who get pissy when I’m not going fast enough and in their way on the bike paths (just trying to get home after training on the road). They’re also the ones who try to race me when I’m training or even on easy days.

i think there is always a need for politeness in group riding. why do some people not get this? at one point we were at the beginning of a hill, i wanted to be up near the front so i accelerated ont he inside (there was at least a 1.5-2m gap from edge of road to group to allow me to do this) to get to the front. some guy yells out ‘go ya hero’. i mean wtf? i just wanted to be near the front when the pace started to increase, so i wouldn’t be blocked in or anything.

one day if one of these cocks says something like this i think i am gonna take the mickey out of them. it seems to be guys who are 30 plus too.

“i think there is always a need for politeness in group riding. why do some people not get this?”

First it was races, now it’s group rides. They’re not the same thing you know. I smell a troll.

umm it was a ‘race’ with a big group of about 75. group riding in races. geddit?

“haha nah…was just doing round lake taupo ride. i did a race earlier in the year and the only cocks i came across were wearing euskatel gear. same with this ride.”

Doesn’t sound like you were talking about a race (Lake Taupo Ride) to me. In any case, in races, behavior is limited by the rules of the sanctioning organization, not anyone’s idea of politeness. Can you give an example where someone in a Euskatel jersey broke the rules (saying something as you move up the inside is not one)?

Before I give you my answer, tell me…are you in South Carolina??

asgelle…this is just members of public wearing euskatel gear. the ‘race’ was a ‘fun’ road race. gets about 11,500 participants. this guy/guys were up near the front.

it wasn’t a race for elites or anything.

I appreciate the team-kit people.

In general, team kits allow me to identify people who are possibly/likely going to ride agro, rude and inconsiderate on group rides.

They should be obligatory for those kind of riders
