Plummeting toward Earth was a far cry from 96-year-old Milburn’s daily life at a Seattle nursing home.

For several minutes, there were spectacular views of Mount Rainier and much of Western Washington on a beautiful afternoon.

Then it came time for the landing. Milburn was supposed to land near the Bremerton Airport, but he experienced some problems.

“He said his arm hurt on the way out the door, so he had a little problem turning,” said Dina Fodd, Blue Skies Skydiving.

For the next tense minutes, SkyKing followed Milburn as he drifted toward the ground, the wind pushing him from side to side coming what seemed just feet from buildings, roadways and even powerlines.

Finally, some distance from his target, Milburn landed in thick brush.

For several minutes, there was no movement from Milburn.

When crews reached him, however, they found he was doing just fine.

Milburn is ecstatic about his jump and that he is now a world record holder.

Milburn did not suffer any injuries despite the seemingly harsh landing.
